Granted with Tupac Shakur Day in Oakland, California, Pac’s biopic “All Eyez On Me” has also been revealed today with its first trailer. The story of Tupac’s life will finally be brought to the big screen on November 11. Newcomer Demetrius Shipp Jr. will star as Tupac and Jamal Woolard who played rapper Biggie Smalls in “Notorious” will come back to play him in the film. Danai Gurira, from the Walking Dead, stars as Afeni Shakur.
“Son, this ain’t just about you,” says Gurira in the trailer. “Like all black men, you have a bullseye on your back.”
Afeni Shakur died this year and did not get to see these accomplishments in her son’s name. Nevertheless she did everything she could to preserve Tupac’s legacy, setting up a trust to oversee his music rights and even offering her blessing to the Roses In Concrete school in East Oakland, a K-8 school inspired by her son’s book of poetry.
